Korean Re to start LatAm expansion from Colombia

The Korean Reinsurance Company (Korean Re) is opening an office in Colombia’s capital Bogota as the first step of a planned expansion in Latin America. Regulatory approval for the new office has been obtained.

Korean Re said the region attracted its attention with the great growth potential that the current low insurance penetration rate indicates. Other major global reinsurers present in Colombia are Munich Re, Swiss Re and France’s SCOR.
